Paul Nobes

Paul is a true visionary and a pioneer in the 12 Step Recovery Retreat model. As a result of his 17 years in recovery from addiction and passion for helping and mentoring alcoholics and addicts, Paul dared to challenge the status quo of a very unsuccessful treatment model used by traditional rehabilitation facilities around the world. He realized the world did not need another traditional rehab, the world of recovery from addiction needed an effective solution!

As a result, Paul has created and successfully run the world’s first 12 Step African Wilderness Recovery Retreat. By utilising the splendour and magic of the African Wilderness, addicts and alcoholics experienced a life changing recovery event in an environment of peace and tranquility, whilst being mentored through the powerful 12 Step program by Paul and his co-mentors.

Paul built and ran his Wilderness Recovery Retreat on an 8,000-hectare farm, located in Matabeleland South in Zimbabwe for 12 months. The farm was situated in stunning wilderness and raw African landscape boasting game such as Leopard, Hyena, Impala, Kudu, Zebra and other wild creatures. It was recovery paradise! An above 80% success rate was achieved with the clients who were treated in the Get High On Life (GHOL) 12 Step Wilderness Retreat facility.

As a result of circumstances beyond his control, Paul is now relocating his Wilderness Retreat to Nyanga, in the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe. This move brings the facility closer to the capital city, Harare, thus becoming more accessible to the clients who need help.

Paul has also established (with two partners) the GHOL Sober Lodge in Harare. This is the first Sober House of its kind in Zimbabwe, offering a safe and sober haven for addicts and alcoholics exiting rehabilitation, who require a safety net whilst being re-introduced into the pressures of life outside treatment.

Paul is the published author of his book "Walking On Fire the Journey Back From Pain and Suffering" and his soon to be published book "Spirit on Fire the Journey Back From Addiction". (More information on the books can be found here: https://gethighonlifecom.wordpress.com/books-2/ )

In order to raise awareness of the massive global problem of addiction and his commitment and passion for helping addicts to recover, Paul has been invited to be a part of the initiative to walk around the shoreline of Lake Kariba. Despite Paul's chronic pain problems in his feet and back, he will be taking a limited part in the walk around the lake, to also create awareness for the people of the world who suffer from chronic pain and addiction.
