Walk4Life

Nick Holme will be the first person to circumnavigate Lake Kariba on foot, a distance of 2,200 km or the equivalent of walking from Paris to Istanbul. The continuous walk will take 3 months to complete with a real threat to life from wild animals, disease and experience extreme heat & cold.

Waves4Life

Ed Holme will sail a traditional dhow 6,800 km from Oman to the mouth of the Save River on the east African coast to represent the connectivity of ancient trading routes. The voyage, further than a trans-Atlantic crossing, will depend on the traditional trade route winds and they will be vulnerable to high seas as well as a threat to life from pirates/terrorists.

Wind4Life

Munya Majoni will co-pilot a hot air balloon on an arduous crossing of central southern Africa from the East coast at the mouth of the Zambezi River to the Namibian Coast on the West. Covering 2,200 km flying over the Zambesia Region, the ecosystem central to these endurance events and critical to the region.

Wheels4Life

Conrad Wing-Davies will lead a trans-Mozambique cycle ride visiting many of the worst areas for poaching and growing terrorism in the north of the country. The ride will cover the same distance as a Tour de France in far less hospitable conditions and terrain.

KEY OBJECTIVES

To Raise £2m In Order To:
●Increase the awareness of mental well being and mental health issues;issues that have always been with us but have been brought into sharper focus during 2020 as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic. Mental well being is a lifelong consideration, impacting people of all ages, all demographics, everywhere in the world and can’t be fixed with a vaccine.
●Increase the awareness, research and education of the correlation between nature, the wilderness and mental well being, and the use of nature based mental well being and rehabilitation programmes.
●Use conservation as a tool to raise awareness of human wildlife conflict, poaching and the stripping of natural habitats and environments and bring about change via the Machinda ‘Nyami Nyami river god of the Zambezi’ initiative.
●Educate that the conservation of our natural world is not only important for our physical survival on the planet, but also our mental survival.
●Build the Education & Research Centre that will enable the latest global education and research on conservation in order to protect our natural environments and how we can harness the healing power of the wilderness to improve our mental well being and restore equilibrium.
●Plant 100,000 trees in year 1, with an overall ambition of planting 2.5m trees – That’s one tree for every step that Nick will take in his walk around Lake Kariba.
●RESTORE EQUILIBRIUM IN THE SPACE OF ONE GENERATION
