Walk4Life Delayed By A Year
On Monday 1st June 2020, the first steps in a 2,200km continuous circumnavigation on foot of Lake Kariba, on the Zimbabwe/Zambia border, were due to have been taken. Lake Kariba is the largest man made lake in the world, created by damming the Zambezi River and it has never been walked around in one go before. The aim behind the walk was and still is, to promote a discussion about our natural world and mental health and the correlation between nature and mental well being - the Conservation Conversation.
Due to the global pandemic that is Covid-19 this endurance event has been delayed by a year and will now commence on Sunday 6th June 2021.
Disappointing as this is, the pandemic has brought into sharp focus the debilitating effect of quarantine and the fact that so many people around the world have not been able to access green spaces and nature spots during lockdown, which has had a negative impact on their mental health. More and more people have realised just how vital the natural world is to mental well being and a sense of contentment.
Consequently, we feel that it is even more imperative than ever to highlight the nature/mental well being connection and so we would like you to join us in the Conservation Conversation - wherever you are - so that when the walk around Lake Kariba takes place in 2021 the whole world will be talking about how vital it is to preserve what natural spaces we have left for the sake of our mental well being.
Thank you
